Absent Children
For the safety and attendance reasons, it is important that parents and teachers know where children are.
In accordance with the Education Act parents are required to ensure that each child attends school unless that child is ill, or permission has been granted from the Principal for an approved absence.
A brief note is requested, after a child has been absent from school explaining the absence. (This applies whether or not anyone has telephoned the school beforehand).
Please phone the school and leave a message if your child is going to be absent for the day.
Daily records are kept of the name of each child absent from school.
If there is a record of absence without notification or explanation, contact is made with parents, firstly by the School Secretary, and if this is not successful, the Truancy Office will be asked to call and make sure your child is safely under your care.
