Your child's health
Dental and health cards
These are handed to you on the first day and completed by you on the day you enrol your child.
Dental Clinic
You can contact the Dental Nurse for urgent attention by phoning either the Stonefields Dental Clinic Ph: 570 8915. Children from the age of 2 1/2 years can have free dental treatment.
School Nurse, or Public Health Nurse
These specialists visit the school and examine children referred by the teachers or the parents. Sight and hearing examinations of new children take place at school.
Health
The staff of the school will, to the best of our ability, protect the health of your child.
Children are expected to:
a) Remain at home if not well and bring a note explaining the absence on return to school. b) Children with communicable diseases should remain at home and have a note from a doctor, health nurse, or health officer before being re-admitted to class.
If your child has an allergy to bee or wasp stings or similar, you should notify the principal on enrolment, or when the allergy is diagnosed. Any medication required during school hours should be brought in a container to school and clearly marked with your child's name and medication details. In the event of illness or injury during school hours, parents will be contacted immediately, or the emergency number held by the school will be used. In the unlikely event of your child requiring medical attention, we will go directly to your doctor, or a doctor close to Glen Taylor School.
Head Lice
Please regularly check your child's hair. Head Lice has always been a problem in schools and no school or child is exempt. Treat with a lotion shampoo obtained from the chemist.
Sores
Please attend to, and cover sores and get medical advice before they spread. Children are not permitted to use the swimming pool if they have sores.
