Welcome to Glen Taylor School!

My name is Chris Herlihy and I am lucky enough to be the principal of Glen Taylor School. I have been here since April 2015.

I am born and bred in the Waikato.  I attended Waikato University where I gained a Diploma of Teaching and a Bachelor of Education.  I then moved to Auckland and was a Year 5/6 Teacher at Fruitvale School in West Auckland.  While I was working there I was lucky enough to win a Fulbright Scholarship where I got to do my Masters in Economics and Entrepreneurship for Educators at the University of Delware in the USA.  I then got the job as Deputy Principal at Kelston Primary School before winning the job here at GTS. e

In my spare time I love to play golf and am a member at Windross Farm.  I also love to travel and try to see as many different cultures and countries as I can.

As the Principal of GTS I have set some goal to achieve.  They include:

• To raise student achievement

• To get children engaged in their learning

• To have children taking ownership and responsibility for their own learning

• To give children the opportunity to be involved in the wider school curriculum - sports, culture, arts etc

• To develop children into successful leaders.

• To create an environment where children feel comfortable and confident to learn.

• To have fun!!!
